FAQ about LiNK
What is LiNK?
LiNK is a non-profit, non-partisan organization that is supported solely by private donors. Our work entails aiding and protecting North Korean refugees in the underground, advocating on their behalf and for the North Korean crisis in general, providing assistance upon resettlement in countries that will provide them with asylum, and raising awareness through creative media (such as videos) and mobilizing the grassroots through official LiNK chapters.
Where do you get your funding?
We rely completely on private donations, and don't accept funding from governments or political parties. We have full independence and flexibility in our policies and are empowered to make objective and impartial recommendations.
Do you host events?
Yes, we will have more information about events coming soon.
Do you have full-time staff?
Yes, meet our team here!
Do you have internships? Can I work for LiNK?
Yes, we will have more information about internships and open positions coming soon.
Where is your office?
LiNK headquarters is now located in Torrance, California, thirty minutes south of Los Angeles. We were previously based in Washington, DC.
Where do you get your footage/media?
We have a full-time creative team that travels to our shelters/operations in the field (when the security and safety of our refugees and protection officers will not be compromised) to capture the untold stories of North Korean refugees through video, photos and more.
How can I get involved with LiNK?
The easiest way to get involved is to sign up for our monthly newsletter, which features updates about our work, the movement and opportunities. If you see anything that interests you, please feel free to contact us. A few other basic ways to get involved are to start a chapter, book a screening in your area, or just come volunteer/work for us!
Where are the LiNK shelters? Can I visit?
The exact locations and whereabouts of our shelters are held with strict confidence for the security and safety of our refugees. Frequent and new visitors may also discourage refugees who are unable to leave the shelter or have been waiting (for sometimes up to two years) for resettlement in a country that will provide them with asylum.
I can't start a chapter, volunteer or work for LiNK, or donate. How can I still get involved?
We understand that everyone has different circumstances and opportunities. Share the story of North Korea with everyone you know. Be informed, use our media as a resource, or think of creative ideas to spread awareness.
I want to start an initiative. Are you interested in partnering with me?
We are encouraged that you would think of LiNK. Please send a detailed proposal to info@linkglobal.org.
Do you have a facebook, blog, etc?
Yes, check for links in our footer.
Where do I send my donation?
Thank you for your generous support of our work, none of which would be possible without you. Please send all checks and money orders (made payable to "LiNK") to:
LiNK
1751 Torrance Blvd, Suite L
Torrance, CA 90501
You can also donate online here.
How can I get a donation receipt?
As a recognized 501(c)3 non-profit organization, all donations to LiNK are tax-deductible. We'd be happy to provide you with a receipt. To request one, please email info@linkglobal.org or call 310-212-7190. If you donated online, Groundspring (our donations processor) will provide you a receipt via email.
Do you sell merchandise?
Yes, please visit The LiNK Store here.
How can I send packages to your refugee shelters?
Unfortunately, sending large packages to the field is quite expensive! Instead we raise funds for specific needs (shelter, food, clothing, shoes, books, etc.) and send such funding directly to Asia, where it is often much cheaper to purchase such things as well. This is why donations are crucial to continuing this necessary work.
Can I write a letter to a refugee in your shelters?
Yes! You may write your letter to refugees@linkglobal.org. We particularly encourage your letters during the holidays (Christmas, Valentines Day, Easter, etc) as it uplifts spirits in the shelter and often provides hope and support!
Can I visit your office?
We are excited to hear that you would like to meet with us! Please contact us at info@linkglobal.org to set up a meeting or a time.
How can I get permission to use resources on your website?
Please feel free to share our media as well as a list of resources made available for your use, so long as the material is unaltered and appropriate credit is given (particularly to materials that are not ours).
Can I host events that benefit or raise awareness about LiNK's work?
Yes! While we would love to raise awareness of the North Korean crisis in every corner of the world, we know this is impossible without your help. For official LiNK Chapter hosting events, you can register your event to spread the word and connect with others in your local area. If you are not an official chapter, please contact us for more information on how to host your event.
Can you send a speaker for my event?
Thank you for coming to LiNK as a resource for your event. Please email us more information to info@linkglobal.org. We will confirm if we can send a LiNK representative. Please note that a speaking request agreement will also have to be signed before a speaker is provided or guaranteed.

Can I interview you for my paper/thesis/project?
We are encouraged that you would come to us as a resource. Please peruse our website thoroughly to find as much information about our work and the North Korean crisis as you can. Beyond that, you are welcome to send additional questions to info@linkglobal.org. As a small office with limited resources, we cannot guarantee that answers will be provided in time for your deadline, but we will try!
