Everyone loves food!

Take advantage of the cupcake craze and bake your own, or pick some up from a popular local bakery. Other desserts that sell well are ice cream (use dry ice to keep it cold), cake slices, chocolate-covered pretzels/bananas/strawberries, rice krispies treats, peanut butter cups and caramel apples.

You can also pick up fundraising boxes from any Krispy Kreme or if you have a large Korean population in your community, pick up some Korean food or treats from your local Korean grocery. Or if you can make homemade dishes, gather your friends to help.

Host a basketball, volleyball or baseball tournament at your school, church or work, charging each team a registration fee as a donation. Ask local shops or your company to donate raffle prizes, mentioning that all proceeds from raffle ticket sales will go toward a good cause. Think of a prize the winning team can enjoy together – restaurant gift cards, movie tickets, museum passes, etc. – and try to get these donated or discounted too. Get your co-workers, students, church members or community out to support the event. Make the tournament free and ask local papers to write a preview or follow-up story.

Getting your car washed the old-fashioned way can be the best if done right. Check out tips, warnings and materials needed for protective washing here. Plan for a Saturday and several rain dates. It can be done at a school parking lot, or often a service station or other business will donate their locations if the funds are raised for charity. Provide snacks and water for volunteers, group them in teams and break up the day into shifts. Most importantly, publicize!
